Police Identify a Suspect with Very Simple Cartoon Sketch

This simple sketch actually helped police identify a suspect. The man allegedly robbed a stand at a farmer’s market in Lancaster, PA by pretending to be an employee. A winess provided police with an amateur sketch and a physical description of the suspect.

According to the Lancaster Police, “The suspect was further described as having straight black hair that covered his ears and that he had wide-set cheekbones and a pointed chin.”

One officer actually thought the man looked familiar and showed the witness photos of Hung Phuoc Nguyen, allowing them to positively identify Nguyen as the suspect. Though the sketch is definitely no comprehensive, it does get some things right — like the suspect’s wide cheekbones — but it also omitted one ear and both his eyebrows. Police are still searching for Nguyen, who faces two counts of unlawful taking. But the silly sketch definitely helped implicate the correct suspect, regardless of how cartoonish it was.
