Police Officer is Kidnapped in Car During Routine Traffic Stop

Police deal with a fair few kidnapping cases, but rarely are they the victims. But this police officer was allegedly “kidnapped” by three gang members during a routine traffic stop in Marietta, Georgia.

Officer Brian Wallace stopped a car with three men inside and had the driver get out of the car while calling for backup, after he smelled weed and noticed the driver’s “odd” body language. When the other officer arrived, police say the driver tried to get back in the car and the officers tried to wrestle the man out.

That's when police say a passenger put the car in drive and sped away with Wallace still inside. The chase lasted for more than a mile, with Wallace sometimes dangling outside of the car before he closed the door. The chase finally ended in a wooded area and the men were arrested. Police say the men in the car had two handguns and were identified as gang members from Massachusetts. The men will face a number of charges, including kidnapping, assault, and fleeing and eluding.

The kidnapped officer definitely had a wild and harrowing day — it’s pretty crazy to think of him going home and telling his family all that he had experienced that day.
