Rare Jellyfish Discovered in Mexico

A rare jellyfish was recently spotted in Socorro Island, Mexico. The jellyfish, which is called Halitrephes Maasi, was found in November 2017 just off the coast of an island near Baja, California. Ocean Exploration Trust (OET) captured the creature on film so that all of the Internet could admire its splendor. The OET was founded by Dr. Robert Ballard, the man who discovered the Titanic wreckage. The jellyfish was discovered after its body reflected the light from a remotely operated vehicle, creating an amazing burst of color. It was also found barely a mile below sea level.

The beautiful quick clip is a reminder of all the amazing lifeforms that live just below the waves. It’s also great encouragement for keeping beaches, coasts and oceans clean. Keeping the environment healthy and the water clean not only benefits us, it keeps all of these amazing and beautiful sea creatures alive.
