Scott Pappalardo, a proud gun owner, destroyed his AR-15 on camera.
He stated, “I’m gonna make sure this weapon will never be able to take a life. The barrel of this gun will never be pointed at someone. I’m a firm believer in the Second Amendment, and I even have it tattooed on my arm. After Sandy Hook happened, I said to my wife I’d gladly give this gun up if it would save the life of just one child. And that’s five years ago now. And since then over 400 people have been shot in over 200 school shootings. And now here we are — 17 more lives lost.”
Before destroying his weapon, Pappalardo explained, “Quite frankly anyone — any legal gun owner — is capable of snapping and committing a horrific crime, even without mental illness. We look at pictures of those victims — is that right more important? I don’t think so. So, I’m going to make sure that will never happen with my weapon.”
On February 14, a man entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire with an AR-15 rifle that he legally owned.
The shooting has sparked a particularly strong call for gun reform, especially with semi-automatic weapons. Hopefully videos like this will show people that protecting innocent people’s lives from guns is a bipartisan issue.
