Two anti-gun activists were shot in a drive-by shooting in Chicago.
Chantel Grant and Andrea Stoudemire were shot on July 26 while volunteering for Mothers Against Senseless Killings on a street corner in Chicago. 26-year-old Grant was a mother of four and 35-year-old Stoudemire was a mother of three.
Both had worked with the organization for years in an attempt to make their neighborhood of Englewood, Chicago safer. The group regularly occupied the same corner for the past four years. They have hosted barbecues and other social gatherings in hopes of preventing violence in the area. The organization also provides community members with mental health counseling and vocational guidance.
The motive behind the shooting is still unknown and is still under investigation.
More than 1,190 shootings have taken place across Chicago so far this year.
