Here’s why these 11-year-olds are marching for their lives.
“I came to the march today cause I feel like gun control in the United States is a big issue and we need stricter gun laws.” Benjamin, one of the march’s young participants, stated. “We need stricter gun laws, because we all want the same thing. We all want to be healthy and live a good life, and we can’t do that if we have loose gun laws.
“Well it’s really empowering to know that this many people, it’s empowering to know this many people are here fighting for the same issues you’re fighting for.” 11-year-old Eliza stated. “As youth, we need to be expressing our voices, being in the school system, it’s really important that we know what’s happening and that we express out opinions with what’s happening with gun violence and it’s not only just in the school that this is happening in, it’s happening every day, so I think it’s really important that children express their voices.”
Both Benjamin and Eliza co-organized a walkout at their school and believe that children can take a stance along with adults, since their voices matter too.
