El Paso, Texas Resident Pamela Aguirre Gets Emotional About Beto O'Rourke
77-year-old Pamela Aguirre got emotional after voting for Beto O’Rourke.
The El Paso resident got out early to vote and attracted national attention after appearing on MSNBC.
“I just want so bad for him to win,” she stated.
Beto O’Rourke served as a congressman in Aguirre’s hometown and is challenging Republican Ted Cruz for a Senate seat.
“There’s just so many things that we wrestle with here on the border and I know he understands those issues. Not just superficially, but in detail,” she explained. “He knows what it is to live here, what it is to deal with the issues of immigration, being a border community. Not being the richest community in the state of Texas.”
Aguirre has lived in El Paso for 40 years and said Cruz’s immigration rhetoric is “hysteria.”
“They’ve never lived on the border,” she stated. “I think they are subject to a lot of misinterpretation of statistics. I think absolutely that the idea that the border is a dangerous place to be, I think that’s been blown way out of proportion. They want to see the border as a dangerous place, they should have been here 40 years ago.”
