Popular.info founder Judd Legum says the 2018 elections aren’t over yet.
“In North Carolina’s 9th district, Democrat Dan McCready trails behind Republican Mark Harris by 905 votes,” he explained. “But the North Carolina Board of Elections won’t certify the election.”
Legum says that when people started looking at the returns, they noticed some interesting statistical anomalies. This caused them to take a closer look at Leslie McCrae Dowless, whom Harris hired to boost his absentee vote totals. Along with being a convicted felon, Dowless also had a crew of people who went out to North Carolina’s Bladen County to harvest absentee ballots. After being questioned, these crew members said they were paid to collect these ballots and drop them off to Dowless as opposed to the election board.
“What did he do next? We don’t know for sure, but we do know that a huge number of ballots in Bladen County, where Dowless was located, and in Robeson County, which is the neighboring county, were requested, but not returned,” Legum said. “So the question is, one, those ballots got to his office, did he do anything to them, and did he return them all to the election board.”
The North Carolina election board is having an evidentiary hearing in December regarding what happened in North Carolina’s 9th district. If they decide to, they can also hold a new election to wipe out the results of what happened on Election Day.
