Cory Booker Speaks Out Against Trump's Family Separation Policy

Democratic Senator Cory Booker shared his thoughts about the Trump administration’s no tolerance policy.

“About 2,700 children have been separated from their families since this policy began in April. It’s about 45 kids every single day,” he said. “This is not just wrong, not just traumatizing to those children and their families, it is an assault on the dignity of them and the dignity of every single American.”

Booker explained that, even though Trump has blamed the current border crisis on the Democrats, the president can actually end the policy with a phone call. He also urged Americans to be proactive in their efforts to end the policy.

“It’s not enough just to be a bystander and say what’s going on is wrong, you need to do something about it. Don’t be distracted by these so-called Republican proposals, that are gonna address the immigration problems in our country. None of those proposals would stop what’s going on right now at the border,” he explained. “At this time in history, stand up for the values our nation proclaims to the world. Protect not just those who are at the border, children, and families, but protect who we are and what we stand for.”
