Eric Swalwell Urges Congress to Protect National Security From Trump Camp

2020 candidate Eric Swalwell is urging Congress to protect our national security from the dangers of the Trump presidency outlined in the Mueller report.

Swalwell is on both the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees and is concerned about risks in the Trump presidency.

“One of the main takeaways that I have from the Mueller report is the number of contacts, and just the multiplicity of contacts that the president, his family, his business, his campaign, has with the Russians,” he said. “At every turn there was a Russian and there was someone on the Trump team.”

Swalwell said that past politicians didn’t make laws for type of colluding Trump did with Russians, because they likely never imagined anything like it would take place.

“In America, you are not rewarded if you are able to bury the evidence of your conduct so deep that we can’t find it,” he said. “You don’t get off scot-free. That’s why we have obstruction of justice crimes.”

Swalwell also said that impeachment is still on the table for House Democrats.

“Doing nothing will set a standard for future presidents that this kind of conduct is ok,” he said. “Doing nothing is not an option.”
