Flight Attendants Call for Day of Action on February 16th if Another Shutdown Begins

Flight attendants had a warning for Trump over another shutdown.

“We were less safe and less secure during this government shutdown,” Association of Flight Attendants president Sara Nelson stated on February 11. “American lives were put at risk, our jobs were put at risk, and we’re here to let the American public know that there was no end to that shutdown.”

Flight attendants are calling for mass rallies at airports on February 16 if Trump shuts down the government again over border wall funds.
“We’re calling on the American public, if Congress chooses chaos and chooses to put our industry into turmoil, we’re calling on the American public to join us at airports around the country on February 16th,” Nelson urged.

Major airports closed on day 35 of the last shutdown— and flight and airport workers are bracing for a repeat.

“This is not a strike. We want the aviation system running, we want our airlines running” Nelson explained. “What we’re saying is that action or inaction of Congress is going to ground our airlines and we cannot allow that to happen so we’re asking people to come out and whatever action we deem is necessary to keep aviation safe, we ask you to come out and support us at our airports around the country.”
