Florida Rep. Guillermo Addresses Parkland Students, Calls For Gun Reform

Carlos Guillermo Smith called for tough gun reform while addressing Parkland students.

The Democratic Representative stated, “Sure, we all know we can respect and honor the 2nd Amendment but where do the 2nd Amendment rights end and the 1st Amendment right to human life, liberty, and our own pursuit of happiness begin? Yesterday [Florida State] House Republicans had the nerve, while students from Stoneman Douglas were sitting in the gallery, House Republicans had the nerve to vote against even having a debate on the assault weapons ban. Shame on them.”

He went on to say, “I thought about how many of the victims during the final moments of their proud young, gay and happy lives. How many of them endured not one, not two, not three, or four, or five, or six, but seven, eight, some of them nine gunshot wounds on a single person. Enough is enough. We have less than 3 weeks of legislative session where something can get done. I need you, if we’re gonna get something done. But if Tallahassee NRA-loving politicians do what they’ve done after every mass shooting, which is nothing, I need you to make a promise. I need you to register to vote. Use your ballot at the voting booth to forcibly remove every NRA-loving politician from office.”
