Gays Against Guns Protest at NRA Headquarters

“Gays Against Guns” went to the NRA headquarters to protest the gun lobby, and pressure more corporations to say, “so long” and sever ties with the NRA.

According to their website, “Gays Against Guns NY is an inclusive direct action group of LGBTQ people and their allies committed to nonviolently breaking the gun industry's chain of death—investors, manufacturers, the NRA and politicians who block safer gun laws. We are New York-based but work with GAG chapters in other cities to ensure safety for all individuals, particularly vulnerable communities such as people of color, women, people who struggle with mental health issues, LGBTQ people and religious minorities. GAG condemns white supremacy, all instances of excessive force by police, and police militarization.”

Armed with signs filled with logos of corporations who have a rapport with the NRA, the group rallied outside of the headquarters and brandished their own unique protest weapon — show tunes. Known for their clever revision of classic show tunes, the group twists their words around to be more politically-minded. For this particular rally, they urged each separate company to rally for gun reform part ways with the NRA to the tune of “So Long Farewell” from The Sound of Music.
