John Aravosis on the Jim Jordan Scandal

Former students say this GOP rep knew there were being molested, and did nothing.

“[Rep. Jim] Jordan is now a super conservative right-wing congressman who embraces the typical far-right agenda: family values, anti-gay, anti-women,” stated Unprecedented Podcast’s John Aravosis. “But before all that, Jim Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University, from 1987 to 1995.”

A number of the school’s alumni have come forward, claiming the school’s sports doctor, Richard Strauss, sexually molested them during medical exams. 9 of Jordan’s former wrestlers have come forward to say that Jorden know about the abuse but did nothing to stop it.

“Several former students say they told Jordan directly about the abuse. Several others say that the abuse was so widespread and so well-known that it would have been impossible for Jordan not to have known about it,” said Aravosis.

Jordan has denied the claims and stated, “conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse of reported abuse to us.”

“Let’s face it, if Jim Jordan were a Democrat, it wouldn’t take nine accusers for the media to give this story the attention it deserves, and for the Republican Congress to finally take a stand against sexual abusers and the people who enable them” said Aravosis. “Whether they sit in Congress or in the Oval Office.”
