Trump claims that we’re seeing “a new American moment” and that there has never been a better time to start living the American dream. The president gave the time-honored speech tonight, which detailed plans promises and finagled facts, following his first year leading the country. He touted the idea of this new moment in an attempt to bolster the new tax cut law, along with other policies.
But Hillary Clinton saw this “new American moment” long before he did.
2009 C-Span footage of Clinton shows her saying, “And I am proud to be an American at the dawning of this new American moment.”
A clip from 2010 also shows her saying, “The complexities and connections of today’s world have yielded a new American moment, a moment when our global leadership is essential, even if we often lead in new ways. A moment when those things that make us who we are as a nation our openness and innovation, our determination and devotion to core values have never been more needed.”
2011 C-Span footage also shows her saying, “The complexities and connection of today’s world have yielded a new American moment that must be seized through hard work and bold decisions.”
