Trump Cancels Denmark Trip After Learning He Cannot Buy Greenland

People in Denmark are mocking Trump who canceled his trip because Denmark won’t let him buy Greenland, the semi-autonomous territory of Denmark.

Trump said he would discuss the purchase of Greenland during a scheduled visit to Denmark in September 2019.

“Greenland is not for sale in any way. I’m not saying it as a joke, but Greenland is not for sale,” Greenland Prime Minister Kim Kielsen stated after Trump’s remarks were made. “the American can trade resources with Greenland just like any other country. They can trade with us, but our country is not for sale.”

Trump later canceled his visit to Denmark after being shut down, stating on Twitter, “…based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s, comments that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time…”

“It is with regret and surprise that I received the news that President Trump has canceled his state visit to Denmark on the second and third of September,” Prime Minister “” stated. “A discussion has however been raised about a potential sale of Greenland. This has clearly been rejected by Kim Kielsen—a position that I share, of course.”
