Vegas Hosts World's Biggest Gun Show Three Months After Mass Shooting
What happens when you hold the world’s largest gun show in the same city that had the worst mass shooting in modern American history? NowThis went to town to find out. SHOT Show is the world’s largest gun industry expo and media attendance is by invitation only.
Senior Politics Producer Allan Piper was joined by Igor Volsky of Gun Down America to learn what the people at the event were thinking.
When interviewed about the mess shooting that just recently took place, air rifle dealer Baxter Walton stated, “I mean, things like that can happen anywhere.”
Gunsmith Del Selin also stated that convention has nothing to do with the mass shootings that have been taking place in increasing quantities around the country.
More than 64,000 gun industry professionals attended this year’s SHOT Show. Anti-gun activists were sad but not necessarily surprised that such a firearm-friendly show would happen so shortly after the mass shooting, saying that the industry has made it clear that profits are more important than people.
Surprisingly there was a bit of common ground found in terms of gun regulation opinions.
Sgt. Trent Taylor of the Columbus Division of Police stated, “I think there should be a little bit more regulation — one more check you know?”
