Angelina Jolie’s advice to her daughters is empowering truth.
“I tell my daughters, ‘What sets you apart is what you are willing to do for others. Anyone can put on a dress and makeup. It’s your mind that will define you.'” Jolie stated in Elle Magazine. “Find out who you are, what you think, and what you stand for. And fight for others to have those same freedoms. A life of service is worth living."
The actress turned activist is a mother of six — her daughters are nine, 11 and 13. Her message to her girls is one of self-discovery.
And Jolie’s words don’t end with her daughters, she has historically used her voice to fight for women, and is dedicated to ending rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war. She’s currently working with NATO on “training, protecting, and getting more women in the military.”
"I also had this romantic idea that I would get my boots on and be a humanitarian. But at a certain point, you realize that's not enough," Jolie explained. "You have to find the root of the problem. And that, so often, brings you back to the law and politics."
Every girl should be encouraged to find her passion, use her voice and lift up the people around her.
