Disney will host its first official Pride event this year.
Disneyland Paris will host “Magical Pride” on June 1, 2019 to kick off Pride Month.
The theme park recently stated online, “Dress like a dream, feel fabulous and experience Walt Disney Studios Park like never before—loud, proud, and alive with all the colors of the rainbow.”
Tickets for the event will cost the U.S. equivalent of $107 and the even will run from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. It will include a Magical March of Diversity Parade, a DJ, and live performances, a Karaoke Theater Experience, and themed photo booths.
Disneyland Paris has held Magical Pride Events since 2014 and Disney parks in the U.S. have celebrated annual “Gay Days” since the 1990s, but none of the events have been officially affiliated with the Walt Disney Company until now.
A spokesperson for the parks said the move was intended to send a signal of inclusivity.
“Diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year, we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender of sexual orientation,” they explained. “We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all of our Guests where magic is for everyone.”
