Elsa having a girlfriend in “Frozen 2” is officially a possibility. “Let It Go” became a coming out anthem when “Frozen” came out in 2013, so campaigned to give Elsa a girlfriend in the movie’s sequel.
@gabzydiana tweeted, “#GiveElsaAGirlfriend cuz damn is there was representation when I was a kid I would have known that luv isn’t only between a guy and a girl.”
The Disney film’s writer Jennifer Lee says she “loves” that dialogue it’s created, stating, “It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations. We have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things.”
She went on to say, ““For me ... Elsa’s every day telling me where she needs to go, and she’ll continue to tell us. I always write from character-out, and where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll see where we go.”
“Frozen 2” comes out November 2019 — it’s to be determined where Elsa’s love life will pick up but we are here for more LGBTQ+ representation. Having a same-sex Disney love story would definitely be groundbreaking, and could help introduce acceptance and inclusion into children’s lives early one.
