Selena Gomez Opens Up About Her Lifelong Battle With Anxiety

Selena Gomez says she’ll battle anxiety for the rest of her life. In January 2018, Selena underwent a two-week treatment program for anxiety and depression and she’s opening up about being at peace with her struggle.

The pop star told Harper’s Bazaar, “It’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome. There won’t be a day when I’m like, ‘Here I am in a pretty dress — I won.’ I think it’s a battle I’m going have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m ok with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else.”

Selena is the most-followed person on Instagram and calls her relationship with social media “complex.”

“It empowers me in that way because it’s my words and my voice and my truth. The only thing that worries me is how much value people our age place on social media. It’s an incredible platform, but in a lot of ways it’s given young people, myself included, a false representation of what’s important.”

Gomez’s message emulates that it’s ok to not be ok — and that messages likely resonates with thousands of fans. The 25-year-old said she’s committing all her energy to her health and working on her next album.
