Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi had some powerful words about gun reform and the NRA.
“This is ridiculous. Arm the teachers? Please. I think we need to arm ourselves with a better president.” Lakshmi stated at March for Our Lives NYC. “I’m here at the march because I value children’s lives. I value the right to every child in this country to go to school peacefully and every adult to feel free from the fear of being mown down by a semi-automatic weapon. This is not about the 2nd Amendment, this is about safety and common sense, and just obvious morality.”
She went on to state, “I think you can see what young people have achieved — which frankly, shamefully — the adults, we haven’t been able to achieve. I think it’s important that everyone be involved, and what that couple years have taught us is that, what we have as a nation and as a country is really precious, and we have to fight for that, and preserve it, and protect it every single day. It’s not enough to think that the civil rights movement is over. It’s not enough to think that Planned Parenthood is safe. It’s not enough to thank that our children are safe when the NRA is putting millions of dollars into the politicians’ pockets.”
