This comedian and actor came out as trans 32 years ago. His name is Eddie Izzard, and he says that the fight for equality is far from over. “It feels like my sexuality caught up with me, and any of us who had come out 32 years ago or beyond” says Izzard, “We must break down these barriers because there are 7 billion people in the world, and this is a very key century for us - we either make it work for 7 billion people…otherwise we’re not gonna make it.” Currently, Eddie co-stars in ‘Victoria & Abdul’ as Queen Victoria’s bigoted son. In real life, Eddie preaches love and acceptance, and his advice for anyone struggling with their sexuality is simple: “You know, if you’re LGBT+, you’ve just got to come out and be open. That’s the best way to do it, and then live your life being out in the open rather than behind closed doors.” Eddie truly believes that the century we’re living in will determine the future of humanity. Let’s continue the fight for progress.
