'Transparent' Actor Jeffrey Tambor Responds To Amazon's Harassment Investigation

Jeffery Tambor is “profoundly disappointed” with Amazon after it was confirmed he won’t return to “Transparent.” Two people accused Tambor of sexual harassment in 2017 — his former assistant Van Barnes and his co-star Trace Lysette.

Lysette detailed the encounter, stating, “He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against my body. I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pajamas.”

This prompted Amazon Studios to launch an investigation. Tambor denied any wrongdoing, but in November 2017, he said he didn’t see how he could return to the show due to “the politicized atmosphere.”

Amazon concluded their internal investigation and now Tambor is pissed at how it was handled, stating, “I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon’s handling of these false accusations against me. I can only surmise the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicized atmosphere that afflicted out set…I deeply regret if any action of mine was over misinterpreted by anyone and I will continue to vehemently defend myself,”

Tambor earned two Emmys and a Golden Globe for “Transparent.” The show has been renewed for a fifth season but production will begin 2018 without Tambor.
