Weightlifting is definitely not for the faint of heart. It requires a crazy amount of discipline and could cause an injury if you’re not careful. And that’s just what goes on inside of the gym — outside the gym you have to worry about stretching, getting enough rest and carbo-loading for your next big workout. It’s definitely a lot of hard work, even when you’re young and agile. But imagine being in your early eighties and pumping iron in the gym just as fiercely as your younger counterparts.
This is exactly what this 80-year-old weightlifter does, although age is just a number for him. Sobhy Mohamed has lived an active life since he was 7 and encourages others to adapt a healthy lifestyle. He used to be a gymnast, wrestler, and body builder, but he kept working out after he finished his professional career even at times when he didn’t have access to a gym. His parents would help him lift weights at home
He currently goes to the gym for 3 hours, 3 days a week. He attributes his health to exercise and clean eating and he hopes to Egyptian government will help him encourage exercise for people over 50.
