Former NFL Player Jay Feely Flashed A Gun In His Daughter’s Prom Pic

This ex-NFL player held a gun in his daughter’s prom photo — and the internet lashed out.

Former kicker Jay Feely tweeted the picture before his daughter’s prom and included the message, “Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom #BadBoys.”

In the photo, he is standing between his daughter and her date, clearly holding a handgun. In response, many on Twitter have expressed their distaste:

@TracyFootworks tweeted, “How is this responsible gun ownership? When did guns become a vehicle for twisted humor? What in the hell is wrong with this guy?”

@shannonwatts tweeted, “Oh yay – American dads have kicked off the season of “let’s pretend I’m going to shoot my daughter’s date for impugning her chastity” pics.”

@everywhereist tweeted, “The Stoneman Douglas shooting was 2 months ago. But sure, let’s make jokes about murdering high schoolers.”

Feely’s tweet was referencing a “Bad Boys II” scene, but after it backfired, he quickly tweeted an apology, stating, “The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking. I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue.”
