NBA Stars Raise Awareness for Mental Health

NBA stars are raising awareness for mental health with a powerful PSA.

All-stars Kevin Love and DeMar DeRozan have been very open with their teams and online about their own battles with mental health. They are also letting fans know not to be afraid to ask for help.

In fact, the entire NBA is making it clear that mental health is just as important as physical health by offering free mindfulness training for everyone in the league and all team employees. It’s also set up programs for thousands of youth Through the Jr. NBA, NBA Fit, and the JR. NBA World Championship.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which has been observed since 1949. The goal of the month is for affiliate organizations to spread awareness and reach as many people as possible through promotions, the media and local events. This way, individuals who may be struggling with their mental health can learn all about the different resources that are out there.

The NBA has set up a mental health portal on its site so fans can also have access to mental health resources as well as tools to educate themselves, with the underlying message being that it’s always ok to ask for help.
