This weed company donated a million meals to families in need.
“Businesses need to take responsibility at some level, for the communities, which support them.” Mike Ray, Bloom Farms’ CEO, stated. “It’s beyond just giving a meal for every product sold. It’s actual participation, it’s actually being in there and being on the ground as well, participation, it’s actually being in there and being on the ground as well, because, you know, it’s one thing to provide money, and it’s another thing to provide actual physical support, which is something that these food banks really really need.”
Ray began his career as a stock trader in New York City, but he got tired of that life. He always wanted to give something back to the community.
“I finally had the vehicle and the opportunity to build a social good program, something I was really passionate about since early on in my life."
Bloom Farm is considered among the top 100 corporate philanthropists in the California Bay Area. For every Bloom Farms product sold, the business donates money to food banks across California to cover the cost of a healthy meal. Not everyone gives back to the community like Bloom does, but it’s definitely setting the example.
