Kacey Musgraves said LSD has brought her “closer to humanity.”
The 31-year-old “Butterflies” and “Space Cowboy” singer opened up to Marie Claire about how psychedelics helped her better appreciate life and existence in general.
“They’ve brought me closer to our planet and to humanity,” she said. “I’ve walked away with a lot of little gifts.”
The country singer has previously been open about experimenting with psychedelic drugs. In 2018, she told Rolling Stone that the song “Mother” was written during an LSD trip.
“It made me more compassionate as a daughter, as a granddaughter, and a partner,” she said. “It put me in my place in the universe, gave me perspective that I think everyone should have. Yes, we’re all special, but we’re also nothing, just a fraction of a grain of sand in the book of time, and make what you have count and make the relationships around you mean something. And care for the Earth because we only have one.”
Musgraves is the recipient of multiple awards for her album Golden Hour, including six Grammys and four Country Music Association Awards. In addition to psychedelics, she has also been open in the past in interviews and songs about using cannabis.
