Tennessee Police Chief Doesn't Know What CBD Is

This police chief thinks people can use CBD to get high, though that’s really not even close to what it's used for. Smyrna, TN police chief Kevin Arnold along with local, state and federal law enforcement, shuttered 23 stores that were selling CBD-infused candy, but in a press conference following the raids, Arnold revealed just how little he knew about the substance, stating, “It’s in a pre-packaged- just like you would buy — that that right there.”

When asked to identify what the substance was used for, he stated “It’s used to get high.”

Once it was explained to the chief that CBD doesn’t contain any THC to get high with, he asked why people would be buying it, to which someone explained “CBD can be used for a multitude of medical problems like inflammation.”

According to Project CBD, “CannabidiolCBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammationpainanxietypsychosisseizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.
