Trump's Attorney General Pick William Barr Shares His Stance on Legalizing Weed
William Barr isn’t for weed legalization, but he said cannabis’ status is ultimately up to Congress.
During his confirmation hearing on January 14, Trump’s pick for attorney general was asked a number of questions about his stance on cannabis, specifically, states’ rights surrounding existing cannabis laws.
“We either should have a federal law that prohibits marijuana everywhere, which I would support, myself, ‘cause I think it’s a mistake to back off on marijuana,” he stated. “However, if we want a federal approach — if we want states to have their own laws, then let’s there, and let’s get there the right way.”
