Ziggy Marley Warns Against Pesticides In Weed

Ziggy Marley wants you to be careful about the weed you smoke.

Markey published a letter April 2018 telling consumers to watch out for pesticides in weed and advising businesses not to put profit over health.

“As marijuana becomes industrialized, we need to stay vigilant about the way companies use harmful pesticides to maximize and safeguard their financial investments,” he stated.

He also compared the expanding weed industry to business sectors that have grown so large, that the welfare of consumers have become secondary:

“We are extremely cautious about what we put into our bodies when it comes to produce, and we much use the same scrutiny when it comes to the consumption of cannabis.”

Without naming names, Marley called out industry leaders who don’t address pesticides in the weed they sell. He said  if he doesn’t know where the weed is from, he won’t smoke.

In light of this, he posed 2 solutions: companies be honest about the usage of pesticides in weed, or people grow their own stuff at home.

“There is no better time to act than now,” he stated. “We must hold this emerging industry responsible from the start. We cannot wait until it becomes more established, because by that time, it will be too late.”
